The Elephant Chair is a flat pack plywood chair that addresses the lack of flexibility and comfort in typical planar flat pack designs. The frame has a single main joint under the seat which is stabilized by the seat panel when inserted. Underneath the seat the frame provides a gap which allows the ply of the seat panel to bend and conform to an ergonomic shape. Similarly the backrest bends according to the pressure exerted by the user until the tabs catch locking it in place. The piece can assemble in just a minute which makes it a great help when you want to pull out an extra chair. The prototype is made from quality furniture grade birch plywood and protected with a Danish oil finish.
